A 6-quart enameled cast iron Dutch oven. The workhorse for braising, no-knead bread, stock, chili, and stew. Enamel finish means no seasoning required.

Key features

  • Cast iron interior for even heat and thermal mass.
  • Enamel coating requires no seasoning — dishwasher safe.
  • Fits a 4 lb chicken or a full boule of bread with room to spare.
  • Domed lid promotes moisture drip-back during braising.
  • Oven-safe to 500°F. Compatible with all cooktops including induction.

Description

Every serious kitchen has a Dutch oven. It is the one pot you use for slow-cooked braises, one-pot pasta, artisan bread, deep-frying, and homemade stock.

The 6-quart size is the practical universal — big enough for a full chicken or a family batch of chili, small enough to be manageable in one hand when empty.

Enamel vs bare cast iron: enamel doesn't need seasoning, doesn't react with acidic foods (tomato sauce, wine, vinegar), and is dishwasher safe. The trade-off is that you cannot heat it as ferociously as bare iron (avoid empty pre-heating over high heat — the enamel can craze) and it is heavier for its size.

Care: hand-washing preferred despite the dishwasher claim. Never shock-cool a hot pot with cold water. If the enamel chips at the rim from use, the pot is still safe and functional.

Bread and braise, done
Sofia N. · 2 weeks ago
Baked no-knead bread in it on day one, made short rib braise on day two. Both were the best I have made. This pot is doing serious work.

Cheaper alternative to the famous brand

Half the price of the famous French brand, indistinguishable quality after eight months of hard use. No chipping, no cracking.

Heavier than I expected

12 pounds is a real workout when full of stew. Two-handed for lifting. Consider a 4-qt if you have wrist issues.
